Title : Daylighters (Morganville Vampires #15)
Author : Rachel Caine
Publisher : Allison & Busby
Published : 5th November 2013
Star Rating : *****

While Morganville, Texas, is often a troubled town, Claire Danvers and her friends are looking forward to coming home. But the Morganville they return to isn’t the one they know; it’s become a different place—a deadly one…

Something drastic has happened in Morganville while Claire and her friends were away. The town looks cleaner and happier than they’ve ever seen it before, but when their incoming group is arrested and separated—vampires from humans—they realize that the changes definitely aren’t for the better.

It seems that an organization called the Daylight Foundation has offered the population of Morganville something they’ve never had: hope of a vampire-free future. And while it sounds like salvation—even for the vampires themselves—the truth is far more sinister and deadly.

Now, Claire, Shane and Eve need to find a way to break their friends out of Daylighter custody, before the vampires of Morganville meet their untimely end

First of all I'd like to express my gratitude and thanks to Rachel Caine for creating the world of Morganville and kindly. Sharing it with us...it's been such fun and full of excitement reading one book after another that it's gone so quick, I didn't even realise there was FIFTEEN books altogether in the series! It's really sad to be writing about the last book and I felt even more sad reading it, knowing there probably won't be anymore after this. But fingers crossed that Rachel Caine will return to Morganville in a few years time! Meanwhile looking forward to the web series due to be released some time next year!

Carrying straight in from the last book, Daylighters starts at when Claire, Eve, Michael and Shane return to Morganville only to have the police awaiting them on the border of Morganville. Not only that, straight after the vampires are separated from the humans, then staked brutally all of a sudden and taken to god knows where! It's a really sad scene, after all that they've been through and escaping from Cambridge only to return home to this trauma. The reason of this is that there's a new group/society in town, known as Daylighters  that aim to change Morganville into a vampire-free zone and they do not care of how they go on about doing this. With Michael and every other vampire out the picture, Claire along with Eve and Shane must do something...and fast! However, stopping the Daylighters would mean the end to a peaceful, safe and fearless place that Morganville has become. It means an end to the happiness of the civilians knowing that they can travel through dark without the fear of vampires at every corner. Is she doing the right thing fighting for the vampires. Wasn't it peace and safety for the natives of Morganville she always wanted? Then why does it feel so wrong?

Excellent ideas, lexis, structure and hard work has been put into this book to make it a perfectly enjoyable read. From the beginning to the end I never felt as if there was no action or a event less moment - there was always something major going on that had me flipping through the pages quickly because of all the excitement at every corner making the book a quick though unforgettable read. The thing that probably struck me the most about Daylighters was the content. It was all new, not a repeat of the books before and including fresh and unique concepts that I hadn't come across before. It was all exciting and unfamiliar which made it more enjoyable. After being so used to the vampires ruling, this was a turnover and totally unpredictable that I hadn't even imagined the possibility of this. Rachel lead us through a journey with revelations along the way, always keeping you on edge making sure the reader has no idea what happens next. I loved that! I loved that I could read it and rather than being able to tell what would happen next, it was all surprises that kept you gripped to the novel and wanting to get through it faster. The only thing negative thing I can probably say is that I missed the bromance between Shane and Michael that there is in the previous books and the banter between the four as well that would always have me laughing for ages! Again, like the previous novels, very fast-paced and full of adventure, kind of scary this one as you're so used to the characters and know them so well that if anything was to happen you'd hold your breath and try not to cry. Increased my attachment with the characters and Morganville as a whole, felt like I couldn't leave it even if I wanted to!

The characters are mostly the same as the last book with a few additions. There's not much personality change but some of them surprised me, such as Hannah. Claire is still the loveable, relatable teenager that's she was before, she has grown and learnt a lot but there isn't much change in her between the last book and this one. The most interesting character is Rhys Fallon. Mysterious and smiling, he looks like an innocent stranger of the street but there's ALOT more to him than what the face gives away.

A compelling finale to a beautiful, imaginatively phenomenal series that once started has you hooked until the end and then still your craving for more. Fantastically written and developed professionally bringing the world of Morganville to life with its variety of exciting and more-than-life personalities . One of my favourite series of all time and I'm desperately hoping that this is not the end of what we hear from Morganville.

Thank you to Allison&Busby for providing me with a review copy!
